What is covered under Premium Insurance?
- Premium Insurance protects the Insured from (Constructive) Total Loss, General Average, Mysterious Disappearance, as well as New Impact Damages
What is not covered under Premium Insurance?
- Cleaning and contamination
- Cosmetic scratches, sticker removal
- Wear and tear (+ OLD)
- Specific Repairs, e.g. cracked or broken flooring, gasket deterioration, CSC plate renewals
- xChange Container Insurance Policy
Furthermore, the Insurance Provider does not provide insurance coverage in case of war and warlike events on land as well as confiscation due to war exclusion clauses.
- This includes, but is not limited to, the exclusion of all claims in Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine, which are suspended until further notice.
What is a deductible?
- A deductible is an amount paid out of pocket by the insured partner before an insurance provider pays any expenses.
- For xChange Premium Insurances, we offer a choice between a deductible of USD 50 or USD 100 per container, which has an effect on the insurance premium you pay per container.

What is the insurance cycle?
- The first Premium Insurance cycle is 60 days - this means the insurance is valid for one-way moves up to 60 days after pick-up (per container).
- After the initial 60 days, the insurance will be automatically renewed on a daily basis unless the containers are reported as empty returned/ dropped off on xChange.
- It is not possible to insure containers for a shorter period. This means, if you need Premium Insurance for 30 days, you will be charged for one full cycle.
When are the insurance costs charged?
- Charges occur on the first day of coverage and are billed monthly.
- The insurance contract is only valid once you click Start Premium Insurance in the checkout box. Prior to this, no contract is made, no container is/ will be insured, and no charges occur.
