Important considerations to keep in mind when using SOCs

When using SOCs, you’ll primarily have to make sure that your agents in POL and POD know how to handle SOCs. Particularly, the local processes around (i) customs declarations and (ii) terminal operations require extra care. Also, these processes usually differ from country to country.

Once you have your agent confirmed, you need to get a SOC rate from a carrier—which is often the COC rate with a discount or a small premium. In specific cases, you can also negotiate an individual rate.
